In addition to being the author of her one-woman shows, Ann has also written for many magazines and contributed essays to a variety of art catalogs, books, and other publications.
She has traveled to Death Valley, Bali, St. Bart's, and Anquila for Condé Nast TRAVELER, profiled the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Soundgarden for SPIN, fantasized about dating the President for VOGUE, analyzed the appeal of rock stars and bad boys for DETAILS, deconstructed the New York downtown art and music scene for ARTFORUM, went undercover as an ugly person on 5th Avenue for ALLURE, and interviewed everyone from Cher to Russ Meyer to Werner Hertzog.
She penned an essay for Keith Haring's Whitney retrospective catalog as well as for Kenny Scharf's Rizzoli monograph. Ann has also contributed to a variety of anthologies, the most recent being A Book of Lists: Horror.
From 2000 to 2008 wrote a monthly column titled “L.A. Woman” for Paper magazine (as well as blogging on papermag.com). Below are highlights from her writing career thus far.
